When a procrastinating writer is visited by her annoying muse-come-to-life, she must learn to work alongside him to finish the follow-up to her best-selling novel, or risk missing her deadline and losing her book advance.
Synopsis
Mia, an unexpectedly successful first-time YA author, struggles to write a follow-up to her bestseller. While procrastinating one afternoon, she heads out for a cup of coffee and hits her head. Upon waking, she can now see Gus, her supposed muse come to life. Gus tells her it’s his job to help her finish her novel and he’s unable to leave until she does. Mia eventually relents and puts her manuscript in Gus’s hands, but in the end, the book isn’t what she hoped it would be. Upset and out of time, Mia forces Gus out of her life and ends up losing her book advance, house, and everything she’s worked so hard for. But by losing everything, Mia finally gains a sense of self and finds a new kind of success in life.
