Artist’s Statement

My aspiration as a storyteller is to create work that is heartfelt, relatable and funny. I want to create infrequently seen protagonists and provide them with a shot at the spotlight. I want to challenge viewers’ perceptions of what it means to be a parent, child, dreamer, leader, success, failure, etc.

I think there is more in this life that connects us than divides us and those connections are the things I gravitate towards in my screenplays and stories.. Love, loss, sex, friendship, family: we all know these things for better or worse.

The challenge for all writers and creatives is to take these universal experiences and make them feel new and personal. As I venture through my fourth decade on this planet, I’ve certainly seen and experienced a number of things that have crafted my voice as a writer and given me a specific viewpoint on the ties that bind us.

Through my Nebraska-based film production company, I produce short narrative content. My most recent short film BOBBY HADEN CHURCH: BROTHER NUMBER TWO features cameos from Alexander Payne and Thomas Haden Church, and is currently screening in film festivals from California to Atlanta. It was awarded Best Mockumentary and received a nomination for Best Actor at the Lady Filmmakers Festival in Los Angeles in September 2025.

I hold a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction Writing and a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing for Stage and Screen from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Additionally, I am also a part-time adjunct faculty member at UNO. I teach Autobiographical Reading and Writing to Buffet Scholarship recipients through the Thompson Learning Center. I am also currently developing a Screenwriting for Television course for the College of Fine Arts and Media.

In my spare time, I volunteer with the Omaha Film Festival: working with the festival’s youth education branch OFF Academy, leading screening Q&As with visiting filmmakers, and participating in anonymous screenplay judging. I am also a frequent panelist at community-focused and educational events. Additionally, I am a regular contributor to KVNO’s Arts Desk, writing and recording radio pieces that cover streamable TV and film content.
